In the Malaysian state of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, the Sarawak Government and the state-owned company, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), are collaborating on plans to build a series of up to twelve large-scale hydroelectric dams as part of an industrial development initiative called the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE). The dams will inundate an area of more than 2,100 square kilometers, submerging forests, cultivated areas, and villages, and forcibly displace tens of thousands of indigenous people from their customary lands.
