This 8 March 2010 is to be the 100th International Women's Day. Odhikar,
FORUM-ASIA member in Bangladesh, and two other organisations in the
country, have started preparation for the celebration.

Frank La Rue, UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of
the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression visited South Korea for
attending international symposium on "Freedom of Opinion and Expression in
Cyber Space" and workshop on "Situation of Freedom of Expression in South
Korea and the Use of UN Special Procedures" between October 12 and October
15.

Human
Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), a FORUM-ASIA member, organised a
workshop on the implementation of the International Covenant on
Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) on 20 July 2009 in Lahore,
Pakistan. The participants, including civil society representatives and
economists, agreed that the government must take measures to ensure
that the covenant is enforced.

Taiwan
Alliance to End Death Penalty, of which FORUM-ASIA member Taiwan
Association for Human Rights is a member, was selected as one of the
executive members of The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty
lately.
