Containing the proceedings of the IDPs in South Asia workshop held in Sri Lanka from 13-16 July 2006, this brought together FORUM-ASIA members and partners, international and regional NGOs, inter-governmental organisations, other institutions and individuals working on IDP issues in South Asia. Discussions were centred on the theme “Promoting the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in South Asia – Strengthening the Role of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs)”. The workshop also provided an opportunity for FORUM-ASIA members and partners to share their experiences, gain new perspectives and knowledge, and was also an effort to strengthen the role of human rights defenders at the sub-regional level.
