INSEC called on the Nepalese government to immediately implement
pledges for peace process promised earlier.

We
respect the commitments expressed regarding adherence to human rights,
fundamental rights and humanitarian laws mentioned in the Interim
Constitution of Nepal 2007 and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed
by the Nepal Government and the then CPN (Maoist) on November 21, 2006
and the efforts to establish peace.

On
the occasion of International Peace Day, we call on the Nepal
Government and the political parties for immediate and effective
implementation of pledges expressed by government at different times
for safe landing of the ongoing peace process, protection of human
rights and logical conclusion of the peace process.

Our
attention has been drawn to the no tenure renewal of secretaries of
Peace Committee offices in all 75 districts which rendered the
committees ineffective from mid-July. We urge the Government to take
necessary steps as soon as possible to make these committees
operational in order to take the peace establishment to judicial
conclusion.

We
would like to the parties to the peace agreement again to adopt strong
measures to lead the country's social and economic transformation
process in progressive direction, to implement the agreement's
provisions and to end the impunity by remaining firm on rule of law as
mentioned in significant documents for the establishment of peace.
