FORUM-ASIA is hiring a Fellow for its EA-ASEAN Programme in Jakarta, Indonesia. Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degree in relevant field to international relations/Southeast Asian studies/development/public policy/human rights; preferably has 1 – 2 years of work experience in the field related to human rights; understanding of the human rights situation in ASEAN; excellent command of written and spoken English; understanding of the ASEAN and its human rights mechanism and excellent reporting and analytical skills would be an asset. East Asia Programme Fellow

Information Designer

FORUM-ASIA seeks to hire a short-term information designer to analyse raw data, and design seven to ten infographics. The designer will need to ensure that all data and information is well presented in the outputs, taking into consideration cross-cultural competency, gender sensitivity, aesthetics and understandability.

Deliverables 

The consultancy will have following output-related deliverable:

  • Delivery of seven to ten infographics, charts and/or graphs based on thematic views featuring the visualisation of COVID-19 documentation data from six Southeast Asian countries and a regional analysis.
  • Collated infographics in one PDF.

The information designer is expected to: 

  • Analyse raw data on COVID-19 human rights violations provided by FORUM-ASIA, and design infographics, charts and/or graphs on said data in a way that is aesthetically engaging and easy to understand.
  • Provide design revisions based on feedback throughout the contract period.
  • Participate in agreed check-ins with the FORUM-ASIA staff and share progress throughout the duration of contract.
  • Work with and regularly communicate with the team to ensure feedback is incorporated in the final output.

Essential skills:

  • Ability to distil and analyse data.
  • Critical thinking: Ability to analyse numbers, trends and data to come to new conclusions based on findings.
  • Experience in designing infographics
  • Excellent visual skills, including demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout, typography, colour and interaction design.
  • Has sound knowledge on issues related to freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
  • Experience with Adobe editing and designing software desirable.
  • Experience working with civil society organisations and non-profit organisations desirable.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.

Consultancy: Strategic Plan Development

The consultant/ consultancy will work under the direct guidance of the Senior Management Team (SMT) of FORUM-ASIA. The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) Programme will serve as the primary contact point.

  1. The consultant will be asked to lead on the following activities:
  • Review and adaptation of existing programme strategic guide, recent evaluation reports and theory of change templates and finalising an overall strategy template in the inception report of the consultancy.
  • Adaptation and application of modern day strategy development tools and methodologies such as stakeholder analysis, power and gender analysis, environmental and climate change screening and mapping tools etc.
  • Ensuring a participatory and inclusive process with involvement of all stakeholders.
  • Ensuring privacy and non-disclosure of sensitive data and information
  1. Essential Criteria: skills and experience required:

The consultant/ consultancy should have the following individual/ collective skills and qualifications:

  • A consultant or a team of consultants with advanced degree in the field of human rights, international relations/ affairs, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the areas of human rights, justice, peace and
  • sustainable development in Asia. Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience of using a ToC framework approach of developing strategies preferably for NGOs working on human rights.
  • Demonstrated experience of designing and implementing participatory research methodologies.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of using Results Based Management principles in monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Ability to consolidate and triangulate data and derive meaningful information from multiple sources.
  • Flexible, organized, and ability to perform in high stress environments.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills (Written and oral fluency in English is a requirement).
  1. Desirable skills and experience; Preferable
  • A consulting firm registered and based in Thailand
  • A diverse team representing a range of Asian, Gender, Racial and linguistic identities.
  • Firms and/or individuals with teams based or having access to sub-regions such as East Asia, South-East Asia, Central Asia and South Asia.
